Colonics are the single most effective way of cleansing the body (unless contraindicated). Important to know is that the treatment is always the same – it’s the body that changes. It can be a very different experience for each person – some find it very relaxing & release easily, other are more sensitive & feel it at a deeper level. Any reaction you have afterwards is a direct reflection of the state of your health. The more preparation you do, the more effective the session & the longer lasting the results. Alkaline foods & drinks or a cleansing program make for a fantastic colonic. Products like oxypowder, colosan, barley grass & fresh vegetable juices can make all the difference. Daily I meet new people who have been diagnosed with IBS when what they are suffering from is chronic long term constipation. Likewise, woman who have been tested for PCOS, endometriosis or fibroids & yet no one noticed their clogged bowels! Eczema & psoriasis often need thorough colon cleansing & dietary changes, not medication.
“Every tissue is fed by the blood, which is supplied by the intestinal system. When the intestines are dirty, the blood is dirty & so are the organs & tissues. It is the intestinal system that has to be cared for before any effective healing can take place”. Dr Bernard Jensen
Colonics are the gentle rinsing of the colon with warm water, to remove encrusted fecal matter, gas & mucus. This allows vital nutrients to be absorbed & leaves you feeling healthy & light. Colonics can also help re-tone & re-shape the colon. The ideal transit time of food through the body is 18-24 hours. On average in the UK it’s now 60 hours for men & 70 for women! The UK is the most constipated nation in the world – with 20,000 new cases of bowel cancer annually. Laxatives are the 2nd largest selling pharmaceuticals worldwide & antacids the 3rd. The benefits of colonics include increased energy, improved circulation, clearer skin/eyes, enhanced mental clarity, weight balancing, better digestion & relief from bloating & heaviness.
Ancient Egyptian writings from 1500 BC, the Bible & Himalayan Yogis all document various techniques to clean the bowel. The colon (bowel/large intestine) is approximately 5-6 feet long & from 2.5 cm wide. It has a two-way wall – it completes the digestive process – absorbing nutrients & water from digested foods, as well as receiving dead cells, tissues & waste toxins from around the body. IF THERE IS SPACE. The colosn is the body’s dump or sewage system. If the toxins present are not removed the result is autointoxication – the waste matter intended for healthy exit becomes reabsorbed into the bloodstream & re-distributed around the body. These toxins then have free run of the entire human body – where they proceed to land on & collect in organs & other areas (such as the brain), wreaking havoc. As the years continue to pass – if the person still eats poorly, lives under emotional stress & in a spiritual vacuity, the body then gradually becomes overwhelmed by toxicity. Inevitably, it is at this point that disease (allergies, arthritis, migraines, skin problems, heart diseases, metabolism/hormone imbalances, gout, Crohn’s disease, constipation, parasites & candida, ‘cholesterol’, high blood pressure, diabetes) & death occur. We most frequently do not die through ‘old age’, but due to a lifetime of acidic accumulation.
Our bodies are bombarded from every direction with substances we are not designed to process or eliminate – from air pollutants to chemicals found in everyday cooked food, industrial, beauty & household products, electrical magnetic fields & drugs. Yes, it’s true, we are remarkably resilient & some people handle toxins better than others (same goes for emotions!) but the bottom line is that we’re not equipped to expel these poisons without some help – especially if our lives involve: a Western Diet, stress, alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, animal products, infrequent exercise & central heating/air conditioning. The Western diet incorporates a lot of refined foods (factory produced), excess dairy, animal products & cooked food. These create mucus in the body which 1st becomes stuck in the colon, & then gets impacted – inhibiting peristalsis & reducing the space through which waste can move. An enlarged colon can prolapse (distended stomach) & put pressure on other organs ie. uterus & bladder. Many colon diseases such as diverticulitis, colitis, IBS, spastic colon & cancer could be prevented through proper diet & bowel care. Colonics help your immune system to help itself – by giving it a chance to ‘breathe’ & by allowing the lymph system to effectively cleanse the body.
The reason medical professionals find ‘vitamin deficiencies’ is often not because the individual isn’t consuming enough of a given substance, but rather, because these substances (which should be in our cells at birth) have been erroded over time by all the poison we’ve put in (they are used as a buffer against toxins). These poisons act somewhat like acid eating away all the micro minerals, vitamins & enzymes that the human animal was born with. This is why malnutrition often takes time to show up.
Yes, it is safe: all the equipment is either sterilised or disposable. Colonics are NOT habit forming. Prior to your 1st treatment do not eat heavy foods (meat, cheese, fried foods, ice cream) fizzy drinks or large meals for 24-36 hours. The better you prepare the easier & more satisfying the session. If you are having a morning colonic, skip breakfast (freshly squeezed juice is ok). There is very little (if any) ‘good’ bacteria in the average colon. Bowel pH levels can be rebalanced after a treatment by haivng green foods, fresh juices, fruits & salads. For probiotics look up at ‘Products’. There is no danger of damage to any internal organs* & the filtered water is gently fed by a gravity tank. The treatment itself takes around 45 minutes + time for consultation & changing = 1 hour.
*Contraindications include: 1st trimester of pregnancy, kidney disease/failure, colon cancer, steroid medication/use, ulcerative colitis/proctisis, under 18s. If you have any doubts about your suitability please contact me – suki@qito.co.uk

:: Straight Talkin’ ::
Colonics are not about losing weight. They can help, yes – but please don’t come thinking it’s a quick fix (and don’t fill up on steak or donuts the night before thinking I’ll get rid of them for you – that’s not the way it works – they create dehydration & acidity = a more stressful release). The better you prepare for a treatment, the more alkaline your body & the more willing it will be to release the old waste. I can advise a pre bikini, wedding or Ramadam cleansing diet, or post-holiday, general detox, raw food transition or fasting program. The level to which you want to take it is up to you.
Colonics are not about relieving just constipation. The minute your colon is empty it starts to fill again with backed up waste from the lymph system, blood deposits & liver – there is always more & just because you think you are regular is doesn’t mean you don’t need some detoxing! We are clogged & congested on a cellular level – most people are carrying too much weight, suffer from ‘diseases’ that didn’t exist 100 years ago & rarely die of just ‘old age’.
M a y b e i t ‘ s t i m e t o r e t h i n k . Big time!
Ideally you’ll leave after your first treatment feeling lighter & cleaner, & less inclined to eat rubbish. Hence you’ll start feeling more energetic, and the hip-fat might start to slide. Then the hard work is put in by you – I’m only with you for an hour, after that it’s your choices that count. Please please read some books & expand your understanding of your body & the physical emotional connection. How it works & how you’ve been feeling less than brilliant because of societies ‘normal behaviours’… our food, drink & drug (legal & otherwise) consumption effects every aspect of our lives. Expecting to feel good whilst eating kfc + m&s frozen diners, washed down with coke, beer & rennies will only result in disappointment…
Your mood, energy, elimination, digestion, hormone & brain function respond dramatically to stimulants (sugar, caffeine, alcohol), the hormones & fats of other animals, pesticides & air pollution. By starting to rethin the ‘convenient’ world you live in, you can make wiser choices about what goes in your mouth, on your skin & into your lungs..
The intention of this is not to scare you off – I hope you’ll be excited about the new project of ‘health & vitality’ awaiting you. Rather than thinking about all the things you’ll be missing out on, focus rather on what IS in your fridge (after you’ve cleared out all the junk) & how great you’re going to feel. Believe it or not, over time, your palette will change & you’ll begin to crave & enjoy new foods.

Hi Suki,
I love your website, and everything on it. I have booked my first colonic treatment with you on 1st June and I am really looking forward to it. I am thinking about have few juicing days before the treatment, how long do you recommend? I am pretty bad at sweet things, anything with chocolate. Do you think I should cut it off for the benefit of the treatment?
BTW, could you email me a client form please? Thanks a lot.
Hope you have a good time in NY.

Hi Yan, thanks so much for the feedback! Start juicing now & increase as you lead up to the colonic. Yes, cut out all sugar (order some raw choc from Alchemy or The Raw Chocolate Shop if you don’t think you’ll make it) asap & juice lots of greens. Form coming via email, see you soon! Suki x

Hi Suki
I had a colonic last week and am now concentrating on my juicing and eating the right things but can I query why you say NOT to eat fish on your list?
Thanks in advance.
Linda

HI Linda,
I didn’t say all fish, but a few specific ones. Some I took from the http://blueocean.org/Seafood/ site, others are listed as being high in mercury (and other heavy metals/chemicals) & no longer safe for consumption. Basically all the seas are now polluted, overfished & in crisis – only Alaskan fish are swimming in clean waters. The oily fishes contain more toxins (their fats condense higher concentrations of these substances) than white fishes. If you’re cooking fish you’re turning good the fats into saturated, if you’re eating them raw there are potential parasite issues. Tuna & mackerel carry an aggressive quality – not great for peace of mind & spirit..
Hope that helps.

I had colon cancer diagnosed two and a half years ago and had an operation. I am always worried that the cancer will come back. I am due to have a colonoscopy soon, should it have been left this long and how often should I have this test?
August 9, 2008 at 9:03 am
i’m not a medical doctor, so i can’t give medical advice about cancer.
if you have taken steps towards greater health and vitality
& made progress with self-nourishment – on every level of your being,
then you should be flummoxing those men in white coats!..
