My poor neglected blog! Much updating of links & a re-ordering of my brain is necessary. I’m writing from the Sunfood Nutrition HQ in San Diego. 108 hours cacao-free ended when I was offered some Balinese Cacao beans: good job.

This is a dream place to work if you’re in our world – MSM hand cream in the bathrooms, a kitchen with several vitamixs, many superfoods & delicious samples, comfortably air conditioned with hot dry desert sun outside! So nice to visit the place where so many things we now consider essential for our lifestyles originated. Before Sunfood the living food lifestyle was primarily dates, nuts & salads. I remember…

I’ve spent the last month or so at the Waterfront Temple in Huntington Beach, playing with the stone grinder, getting creative in the kitchen & sleeping on a boat in the marina: life is sweet.

Raw Spirit Festival in Santa Barbara was beautiful – much quieter than Sedona & a very different venue – but you know you’re going to have the best weekend ever go when family gather in the sun, with tents & music… ❤

I want all of it. Oh wait, I HAVE all of it. Last night I heard Tom Robbins read from his latest book B is For Beer @ B&N Union Square (the last writer I had the extraordinary pleasure of seeing there was Kurt Vonnegut, so it holds a special place in my literary heart). His mind is astonishing – I wanted to crawl into his head, or his pocket & hang out there awhile. The 2 subtitles are ‘A Grown-up Book for Children’ & ‘A Children’s Book for Grownups’.

The subtitle for mine (it will be done one day..) was due to be ‘A Children’s Book for Grown-ups (& Doctors)’ but I may rethink that now.

I’m in back home in New York. Things happen here unlike elsewhere… ∞

Dandelions & chickweed are peeking through – I think of all my Aries friends and what it takes for a tender young green shoot to push through the cold hard earth – I appreciate their perseverance, focus & determination.. ✖

I am having the most extra-ordinary insight into life outside the Suki-world. It’s been pointed out previously that I wasn’t exactly run-of-the-mill, but I’ve gathered around me enough like-minded people, to not even think about looking outside our beautiful bubble. Where I am right now is bang-smack in the middle of nowhere. Average Ville UK (I’m sitting with my claustrophobia - knowing that an airport is 1 hour 36 minutes away is my saving grace. Seriously), where people are aging in the same clothes, shoes & scarves they wore 30 years ago, & their children are dressed likewise. Where passing chat is complaining about the National Health Service, or the state of the roads; people read The Telegraph (& believe it), watch the news every night (& believe it) & fuss about their neighbors while enjoying a 6pm G&T – this would seem to be normal. There is little potential for Magic & people seem bored. Just being on public transport in London is shocking (for the 1st time in 20 yrs) – pallid skin, people aging prematurely (it’s easy to look cute when you’re young – the signs of ‘normality’ kick in later) & a default energetic heaviness.

I’m sensing around me a feeling of inevitability & a predictability I realize were never my reality. No doubt due to a lifetime saturated with music, fiction & movies – which meant being excited about & taking interest in things which simply offered me MORE on every gorgeous level. This has made me so much more grateful than ever for sharing space with the inspired revolutionaries I have the honor to know. I don’t think it takes effort or guts to break free from a life inclined towards retirement and pension plans & the mindset of being ‘grateful for small blessings‘ – you either get it, or you don’t. If you don’t – then words can’t describe (not through lack of trying) this new & explosive paradigm! The richness of experiences available to all of us in every moment are sparkling bright, beyond words.

There is no us & them. There is only us – all part of the same Soul Soup. So now that I see the bigger picture I know how much more love I need to show, give & shower on each everyone. I’m missing my pod, but grateful to be living this, now.

I keep thinking about my grandmother, a very serious ‘take care of the pennies & the pounds will look after themselves‘ Aries, who the day after she croaked, came with a message ‘Lighten up Suki, you should have more fun’. I said to the channel ‘You must have the wrong woman, Nana would never say that’. She replied

‘She knows better now she’s on the other side – she’s free – like sparkling lights’…

I’m writing before I’ve even finished listening to Michael Perrine’s The Scoop on Poop interview with Terra of Raw Divas. Hmm, yes – poo talk still does it for me. He covers the subject brilliantly - simplifying how and why to eat certain things, how not to get caught up in food fascism & how the colon works. Happiness is directly related to south facing windows and a lack of mold

I have new perspectives on my obsession with weather. Toronto last week was -16°C. I’ve never been so cold. Walking down the street gave me brain-freeze like I’d just inhaled a pint of ice cream. I stopped in every 3rd shop to warm up. Detract that from my speed of scuttling & it became a normal length errand. On my last day in the elevator, a man said to me “It’s crazy that we choose to live here”. I didn’t miss a beat in replying “I don’t live here & I’m leaving today – YES you are crazy!!” They say there’s no such thing as bad weather – as long as you dress right. B*|+s!%t. Light & humidity play a massive part in a region’s collective psyche, creative expression, joy/depression & late night habits. Which got me to thinking about the amazing bands here & enormous impact of UK music (from such a tiny country), how the weather moulds (pun intended) our creativity or output.

So, I’m back in London & all the words which didn’t flood my head in America are tumbling into my brain like clowns, wanting to see themselves in black and white. Literally, the minute I landed my mental patterns changed, synapses sparked & a new itches wanted scratching. My mind construct was different in the States – I wondered at the lack of writing & put it down to not having My Table; to being surrounded by people so often; being on the road or behind the camera. I was told I simply needed discipline or structure – and then the words would flow. But these words – they’re jumping in when I’m not sitting down writing – they are making me sit down & unleash them onto the screen. They are oozing, flowing down – vocabulary spinning! I always need to know how someone’s name is spelt to be able to say it or remember them. I spell words in my mind when people are talking, like a dymo label-making machine behind my eyes/ears: the absence of words for 6 months was eerie. 

Happiness is directly related to south facing windows and a lack of mold + a tumble dryer (damp clothes in the house – previously so normal, now feels very Mike Leigh) + a vitamix! There is a unique experience of being ‘home’ – a sense of self and place. Returnng to damp, mold cracked England is a familiar shock. It doesn’t suit me here so well – I feel claustrophobic – like an badly tailored ill-fitting straightjacket, which I get used to wearing & even convince myself suits me – what is so normal can so very easily become a default for me. Again and again..

However I’ve never been more grateful to be on Fiona’s table, see my girls (who are not on facebook & rarely online – can you imagine?!!) & re-orientate. A change of clothes is much appreciated – 6 months out of 1 suitcase was good for the soul, but…

Since I left Woolworths has shut down. GONE; McDonald’s latest refurb looks like Foxtons; There is new raw choc in town - Mulu: I had an email from Poteet asking me if the pic on the site of this new venue in Seattle - Cafe Reiki was me. It is! I’m not quite sure how they came upon it & apparently it’s being used in print too. Amazing luck & success to them in their new venture.. ✘

Snow is a whole new culture for me! In the south of England snow makes front page news. Then it melts. In Canada the snow is here day after day & it’s amazing. They say that weather is all about having the right clothes – too true. Staying with old, dear friends Joel & Catherine in Peterborough, I had my first snowmobile experience (improperly attired of course) courtesy of Mark @ Mark’s Finer Diner & I loved it. The light, air & land here is amazing! I am only this open-minded and able to ignore my terror of the cold because I spent the winter in Arizona & spring is so very close.. 

In Toronto we’ve been enjoying food at Live, groceries from The Big Carrot cooperative, cacao goods from Upaya Naturals & NSA with Dr Mo! I’ve been staying with rawsome wizard & art collector Jody of Meta Gallery in Toronto. His latest show features the very talented Cathie Bleck:
